: Help! cardiac amyloidosis, Transthyretin cardiomyopathy, and familial amyloid ca
: cathymkent March 01, 2018, 04:38:07 PM
I'm looking for ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes for the following cardiac amyloidosis, Transthyretin cardiomyopathy, and familial amyloid cardiomyopathy. There seems to be conflicting codes between E85.4 and E85.82 for the Transthyretin. Cardiomyopathy for 2018.
Now I'm wandering maybe I should got with the I codes. UGH.......
Its so conflicting!

Why do you need the ICD9 codes?  I'm not sure what you mean by conflictin.  The E85.4 is organ-limited amyloidosis and E85.82 is wild-type transthyretin-related amyloidosis.

Thank you so much for answering me. So what you are saying is
cardiac amyloidosis Is E85.4
Transthyretin cardiomyopathy, Is E85.82
familial amyloid cardiomyopathy is E85.4
????

The icd9 we use for reporting.
I just want to make sure I’m understanding what I’m reading in the ICD 10 book.
It just looks like the dx’s all fall under E84.4  but I’m sure I’m interpreting it wrong.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I think she asked why you needed ICD9 codes when they are no longer used.

I'm not a certified coder.  I'm only interpreting what I'm reading so I'm afraid I can't clarify any more.  It appears what you stated is correct based on the ICD10 resource I'm reading.  Sorry I can't be of any more help.
