PECOS?
« on: August 11, 2014, 06:56:51 PM »
I'm trying to submit our Medicare revalidation through PECOS and I am totally lost. I watched the instructional webinar video, but when the person in the video logs in the screen looks COMPLETELY different than when I login to the organization's account (or what is supposed to be the organization's account). My only options are "Home" "My Profile" "My Connections" and"My Saff" with zero options to submit anything to Medicare. Does it sound like I'm not logging into the correct account?

Would you believe as soon as I typed this the screen magically changed?

Haha!  I personally dislike PECOS.  I still do the paper apps since they are so much easier to me.

I'm with Michele on this one.  We had a NIGHTMARE experience w/the PECOS system when we moved.  We updated our address thru PECOS and got the confirmation page that everything was received and would be forwarded to CMS for updating.  We waited a little while and checked w/our local MAC and were told "no, nothing has come thru for your provider number, log on to PECOS again and do it again".  Ok......3 more times of that, our provider number had a "hold" put on it.  When we called because all of the sudden we weren't getting any direct deposits from Medicare, we were told, "well, we mailed letters out to you, but they came back return mail (we had a forwarding order, but Medicare doesn't forward), you'll need to update your address before we can take the hold off your number." ???????????  We explained we did update thru PECOS several times and received a confirmation page that it would be sent to CMS, our local MAC's answer to that was, "well, there must have been some kind of glitch, you may as well just try it again thru PECOS".  Ummmm....no thank you.  We'll just do paper apps from now on for any changes or any of the revalidations that come thru (working on one right now).

Good luck w/the pecos system -- hope it works better for you than it did us.

I was expecting a problem with a new client I just signed ... I was pleasantly surprised.. went without a hitch. I had ONE small glitch where screen went blank and it popped me back out to login screen but logged back in and it was ok. This was about 2 weeks ago.. all went smooth. First one I did with PECOS.. I was really expecting a problem.

That's what happened to me too Linda. I realized once I finally got logged in that the info is so out of date, we just ended up sending in the re-validation on paper because one of the clinic owners left and a new one was brought on, plus we've added 4 locations in the past year. When the re-validation gets approved we will probably try to start using PECOS and update whenever we add a new location. It sounds like we went with the right option, big changes/re-validations are just too important to risk on a glitchy system.

And Jennifer, that sounds totally horrifying! There are enough issues with having to send in corrections on Medicare apps for tiny things as it is, I don't know what I'd do if the information never got transmitted period.
