MOTOR NERVE CONDUCTION TEST
« on: August 20, 2012, 05:51:26 PM »
THE COMPANY WHO PROVIDE THE MOTOR NERVE CONDUCTION TEST GAVE ME A CPT(95903-95904-95900-95934)AND MODIFIERS 59 "OR" TC TO FILE FOR CLAIMS TO MEDICARE, BUT RECIEVED A REJECTION STATING (THE PROCEDURE CODE IS INCONSISTENT WITH THE MODIFIER USED OR A REQUIRED MODIFIER IS MISSING) I SENT THOSE CPT CODES WITH MODIFIER TC ONLY AND A GOT THE SAME REJECTION MESSAGES, I SENT I SENT THOSE CPT CODES WITH MODIFIER 59 ONLY AND A GOT THE SAME REJECTION MESSAGES, THEN I SENT THOSE CPT CODES WITH MODIFIER TC AND 59 TOGETHER AND A GOT THE SAME REJECTION MESSAGES. HOW CAN I CORRECT IT FOR THE CLAIMS TO GET PROCESSED?

Both the 59 and TC modifiers appear to be allowed for the CPT codes you mention.  I would call Medicare and see if you can get any assistance from a representative.  It is tough because they cannot tell you how to code.  I'm thinking that there has to be more to it than what you've indicated and without seeing the claim and the denial it's hard to say.  That is where I would start.  You could also try searching the LCD's/NCD's.

What other codes are you billing on the claim? from what you have provided, there are no extremities billed.  Also the 95900 and the 95903 are both motor nerves (one with F wave and one without).  What is the exact procedure you are trying to bill/code?

TC is for technical component.  If you are the professional component you need to be using the 26 modifier.
