Problem with Medicare
« on: December 12, 2008, 12:36:52 PM »
Hello,

I have been having a problem with Medicare.  My problem is that I will file a claim and wait for payment,  I will re-file after almost a month, and I will still not hear anything, not even a denial.  Is ther anything I can or should do?

Thanks so much,
Rachel

If you are billing electronically, you need to check your electronic acceptance report to see if Medicare is receiving it.  There may be some problem with the pt's  eligibilty or something that is causing the claim to kick out.  In Illinois, you can also go on line to see if the claim is in the Medicare Part B system and see what the problem may be.

Marypete is right.  You should be receiving something on your electronic reports, but sometimes you don't.  It may be something like an incorrect id, or name misspelled, or something.  If you don't find anything on your electronic reports, or if you sent it on paper, call medicare and verify the patient's date of birth, name, and ID.
