PSYCH TESTING
« on: September 11, 2015, 05:25:58 PM »
Has anyone had any success with Medicare when coding for 96101 and 96102 in the same day for same patient?  They updated information in June 2015 to cover but I personally have had no luck, nor anyone that I know.

Generally carriers will not pay for these tests on one day. Best to have patient come back for different session. Most won't even authorize both for same day.

I agree Linda.   I did find documentation that Medicare updated in June 2015 stating they will cover the 96101 and 96102, along with other codes, on the same day.  However, I do not know of anyone that has had success in this and of course Medicare will not elaborate on how they require the codes to be sent, ex:  will they require a modifier?
