american speciality health network

Does anyone have experience - good or bad with American Specialty Health (ASH) network?

I previously worked in Chiropractic and ASH was contract w/Cigna for Chiropractic "review".  I know work in Podiatry and today we received a letter from ASH that they are expanding to include Podiatry in their networks.  My previous experience w/ASH was HORRIBLE - we were constantly having to send in records for prepay reviews.  ASH would say they never got them, we'd resend them, the claim would deny due to "requested information not received" and then trying to get someone that could actually LOOK and see we HAD in fact sent the records in was a nightmare.  We'd call ASH and they'd say, "oh, you'll need to talk to Cigna about this".....call Cigna, "oh, you'll need to speak to ASH about this".  That's my previous experience with American Specialty Health and am NOT looking forward to joining for podiatry if that's what is going to happen.

My doctors now have never had an experience w/ASH, so I'm curious to see if anyone has any good experience with them and my past experience was limited to Chiropractic or if it's just as bad for every speciality.

Thanks!!
Jenn :-\

My only experience has been with chiropractic.  We're not happy with them, but we HAD to participate with ASH in order to contract with Anthem Blue Cross.  They set the reimbursement rates (which have not changed for MANY years).

I will say that their site makes it fairly easy to submit online requests for treatment, and their response time is quick.  We don't always get what we request, but that too can be appealed online.

If they are the payor, you get paid a LOT faster using their EFT program.  I don't like it, but we get paid about 60 days sooner.

My podiatry office received the "invite" from them today, and I put it through the shredder. No way we are joining that network...I have heard too many horror stories from friends who bill chiro.
