: Medical billing and coding classes: online vs community college?
: Newbieatthis February 16, 2015, 03:49:02 PM
I have two options right now: a medical billing and coding class online (career step maybe) vs a medical billing certificate and coding specialist certificate in a community college near me (accredited via AHIMA). I thought all online schools were bunk? Career step doesn't accept FAFSA but I can finish in 4 months and they said they could help me find work right after and the Com. College says they don't have that. Advice?

It really depends on the direction you want to go. If you are going for coding, then you will need the additional certifications that come only from AHIMA and AAPC directly. Most likely the courses your thinking of might help to 'prepare" you for this. You really have to decide which your going for.. they are both separate careers..they can be blended for better opportunity though.
