Trade Journal Advertising
« on: June 19, 2013, 08:20:08 PM »
Hello- I just placed an ad in Chiropractic Economics magazine. It does not hit the web or mail boxes of the subscribers for another week or so.  Just wondering, has anyone advertised in this magazine? Any success? I noticed one disgruntled ex advertisor lodged a complaint, saying he recieved no response after spending over $1000.00. This publication has been around since the 1950's however. Any feedback would be welcome. :)

I have mixed feelings, I have spent money advertising in some physician periodicals, I would have to go look to see how much but I can't really say that way got me any clients, but on the other hand I do know other billing companies who have had success with same type of marketing. That brings me to a point that I don't think a company should have to refund advertising fees because someone didn't get any business, it's a gamble, as long as the ad was placed and visible and the company made good on the type of advertising they promised I don't think it's right to have to refund someone because their ad just didn't work.. it's a coin toss. Throw up the coin, heads/tails that's how it works.   For me the best marketing lied in marketing my experience. I got more out of doing simple resume's than expensive ad's. Also the yellow pages, such a ripoff for what they charge. JMHO

The best advertising is YOU. Medical billing is a service and that service is YOU. There is no one better to advertise your business than you personally. Just my opinion.
Here is what I tell my students....Ask yourself, would you hire YOU to bill for YOU. Read it carefully. What it means that if you were a physician, would you hire you to do your billing? Something to think about.
Why did you choose to advertise in a chiro mag? Just curious.

We get and read Chiropractic Economics every month.  It's not your best bet for advertising since it's basically ALL advertising.  Your ad will get lost in the bunch.  Merry is right, the best advertising is YOU!  You're going to have to pound the pavement and get your face out there.  How you present yourself (confident not pushy) goes a long way to getting accounts.  And be sure to be nice to the front desk staff, they are the gateway and many times are doing the job you're trying to take away from them.  :P

Thank You for the feedback. Good advise, although it's rather difficult to "pound the pavement" and
"get face to face" with  doctors and clinic office staff when one has to work a 9-5 job, and get's off work
just as most clinic's are closing!  ???

When I started I had the same problem, but I knew I had to make myself available during the day. What I had to do was use vacation time, lunch times, etc. Once I obtained 2 clients I then had to make the decision to leave the full time job.
There's just no way to do many of the tasks you need to do while working another job.
