credentialing help
« on: January 11, 2011, 06:23:17 PM »
Ok, so here it goes:

My husband is wanting to start his in home sleep study business that does testing for OSA and CSA.  He came from a DME company and knows very well how this study works.  We have a supervising physician, a pulmonologist to read the reports, and a couple of RT's (Respiratory Therapist) who want to join us.  Medicare is very big on In home sleep studies and requires DME companies to use third party testing, hence, that's why we are starting a business like this.  Also, we live in an area that is in high demand of this type of study, but about 60% of patients are on medicare (retirement area).  There are a few of these type of companies out there, but all mail out the equipment to test.  We want to offer personal services instead of mailing these expensive things to patients, such as drop off and pick up. (that's just the beginning)

So now here's the tough part for me since I will be doing the billing:  Since hubby is not a Dr or RT, he can be the owner, but how do we do credentialing so we can get paid for the services?  Do I need to get the Physician, pulmonologist and RT info to be included in the credentialing process???  Is anyone out there willing to do the credentialing for a reasonable price for us??

Any help would be appreciated!!!

yes, all the physicians/providers will need to be credentialed as well as working only within the scope of their licensee.

ok, that's what I thought.  Now does the IDTF need to have an NPI too?  Would it be individual or group?

You need a group NPI for the business, then you need to credential the business and link all providers that will be performing services to the group.

We do credentialing services.  If you would like to discuss give Pam a call at 315-207-4222 ext 108.

Thanks
