: Accept Assignment

I read one question on Accept Assignment. Actually it's posted long back.

Accept Assignment means it's an agreement between physician and the patient where patient transfers all his rights to the physician to receive benefits and physician requests direct payment from Insurances.

That's actually called Assignment of Benefits (AOB) Thats what patients do to have the claim paid directly to the providers.

Assignment of benefits: An arrangement by which a patient requests that their health benefit payments be made directly to a designated person or facility, such as a physician or hospital.

Assignment is an agreement between Medicare and doctors and suppliers of health care equipment and supplies. To accept assignment means the providers or suppliers agree to receive direct payment from the Medicare program and to agree to accept the Medicare approved amount as payment in full for the service. The approved amount is composed of the Medicare Part B payment and the applicable deductible and coinsurance.(1) The provider or supplier must make a reasonable effort to collect deductible and coinsurance amounts.
