: Can I bill for Disposables and E&M wound care visit
: jmach March 17, 2008, 09:47:56 PM
As an outpatient wound center located in an inpatient Rehab hospital, can we bill for disposables along with the E&M visit?

Example:  Patient comes into center needing wound care.  We open a box of dressing for the wound and provide and E&M visit.

Can we bill for the dressing (disposable)?  The dressing does have applicable HCPCS codes.

Base on my experience. When the patient just came in needing for wound care then you can bill the disposable dressing along with the E&M visit but be sure you have the supporting document that are needed in that procedure. ::) 8)

I hope it helps.....

Thanks for the info.  I do have another question... Would you have to apply a modifier -59 to the e&m visit in order to get reimbursed for the disposables?    :-\

You don`t have to use modifier because modifier 59 says it is a distinct procedural services wherein disposable is not a procedure it is supply used in the procedure.
