My understanding is that Medicare will start covering annual physicals in Jan 2011. Has anyone read what code would be used to report the exam? Are they designating a G code to the exam or just using the 99000 codes that commercial carriers already recognize?

CMS is proposing to develop separate Level II HCPCS codes for the first annual wellness visit, to be paid at the rate of a level 4 office visit for a new patient (similar to the IPPE), and for the subsequent annual wellness visits, to be paid at the rate of a level 4 office visit for an established patient.
The ruling is to be released on or about Nov 1, 2010
