Need Marketing Advise
« on: September 10, 2011, 06:05:53 AM »
I have been marketing for 5 months and I am wondering if I am going about it the wrong ay with my marketing. I have been mailing introduction letters with my brochure and a post card for them to choose what service they would be interested in, if they want me to keep them on my mailing list, or if they are happy with their current service. I have gone out and done face to face but a lot of offices have signs that say no soliciting. I have done a lot of and I mean a lot of cold calling, with follow up calls on the info that I mailed out. I have give my business cards to former coworkers, family, and friends. I have my website, which can be searched many different ways. I even talked to my business partners cousin-in-law who is a doctor about my company over Labor Day, I gave her fliers and business cards. I had one person contact me about my flier and he said he would talk to his business partners and get back to me. I had another that sent me an email looking for my price and I had another that I talked to a few months ago, that told me to call her back at the beginning of October. I have also applied to ads for Medical Billers, but I still have not signed a client. Does anyone have any advice they can give me, it would be appreciated. Please help!

It sounds like you have done quite a bit. you don't mention your experience, or training and I would say that will definitely factor in with results. Businesses like ours need an outlet to show off our talent's and expertise, sometimes you have to think outside the box. Such things would be holding mini seminar's, round table discussions, offers to take on a job for free as a promotion (example; free code review/superbill review).  Reach out in various other ways that help show your experience. I even include my resume most times which is VERY helpful.

I forgot to mention, 5 months really isn't that long so don't lose hope. I've seen billing companies take a year or even two before getting that first client.

I have 15 years billing experience and that is included in the info that I have sent. I have sent out my resume to some places. Hopefully when I call that one office back in the beginning of October, and it will be good news! I put my company on my resume and I have applied for jobs with my resume, my brochure, and my introduction letter. My introduction letter states that I am a new billing company, should I leave that on the introduction letter, or take it off? Thank you for the help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't mention being a "new" billing service.  I would emphasize the 15 years experience.  People see "new" and that's all they bother looking at.  Even though you are a new service, you are an experienced biller and that is what they are getting.

Tammy,
Congratulations!  So glad to hear how well you are doing.  We've always said the best thing you can do is do an excellent job.  The rest will fall into place.   ;D  Obviously you've got your eyes focused in the right direction.   ;)

Tammy,

Congratulations! Thank you for those words of encouragement. I am so glad that I found this forum. I know that it will take time to get where I want to be, but with the blessing of God, I will get there. I refuse to give up on my dreams! I had actually started my business with someone who had 15 years medical billing experience. After a month, I found out that I was really better off without her as a partner. I was doing all the marketing, and I purchased everything for the business, good thing I found out what type of business partner she was early on! To those out there with a new business relationship, just be careful!

Congrats Tammy!  It took me over a year to get my first client but I have a client and it definetly isn't easy marketing.  I have found a niche in mental health billing and I am doing whatever I can to market. My website and google searches have gone up and I have had a few providers calling and requesting my services.  I will co-sign and say to keep the faith and stay diligent in marketing your business.  It is easy to get discouraged but don't focus on the here and now; focus on the future and having clients and performing your job to the best of your abilities.
