Interesting..I haven't thought of flat rate fee as it might be hard to gauge how much time for each job.  I'm thinking more along the line of hourly rate for ongoing work of just data entry, payment posting, and possibly f/u.

I don't think I would hire someone unless they were going to work here in my office, would be way too much liability and added expense to the E&O premiums!  Almost all of my clients raise an eyebrow at remote coders and I can't blame them.

Charlene, are there certain sites that you go to for searching this?

@ Queen to research what in particular???

I do contract assignments so they are 1099 employees. They log into my system, pull the faxes off my site, and I have a copy of all the claims, eob's that they need to post. The system does allow me to run a report. If they want to take 10 hrs to do what I feel is a 2 hr job. Its still ONE FLAT FEE. This discourages people from logging in and trying to milk my wallet. I set a price for the job I need up front, if they agree, they get paid. I usually will contact someone within the association because I'm a firm believer in networking. Someone in mines sent me a client, so I therefore will forward potential clients to them as well. There are some services I REFUSE to even bill!!
