WHEN BILLING FOR A LOCUM TENENS CRNA, DO WE USE THE Q6 MODIFIER.  ALSO, ARE THERE ANY
MEDICARE PROVISIONS FOR A CRNA ACTING AS A LOCUM TENENS?

The Q6 modifier would be appropriate.  As far as using a CRNA for a locum tenens, as long as you follow the guidelines set by your state for CRNA’s that is fine.  State law determines supervision and scope of practice for CRNA's but it looks like the majority of states require on-site MD supervision. You would bill the same as you would for a CRNA that was in a permanent position. You will need to credential with the insurance companies that require CRNA credentialing and bill under the CRNA’s name when required. Otherwise bill under the supervising MD's name. There is not a specific modifier to indicate CRNA locum tenens (Q6 is for physician locum tenens).
Hope that is helpful.
Thanks
