Terminate a client before I even begin
« on: November 07, 2014, 06:03:56 PM »
Hi All,

I have been speaking with this potential client for about a month now and we are actually at the point where I have sent them a contract and it is pending signature. A LOT of things have come to light in the last few days. I have discovered that they are not firing there current biller and they want me to work out with her who is doing what and who is collecting what. I had a conversation with the biller (who had NO IDEA they were hiring me). She has alleged that the client makes a lot of arrangements with their patients and waives a lot of patient responsibility, they treat way beyond visit limitations and cannot prove medical necessity and do not charge the patients. I also believe they may not be correctly using incident-to procedures. Now I would like to take this information with a grain of salt, because this biller is afraid I am taking her job (which I thought I was). But I have spoke with the office manager who somewhat confirms these allegations. I also asked why they were not removing this biller from her duties and I was told they want to see how I do first.

I am at the point where I see a ton of red flags and don't think it would be in my or my companies best interest to take on this client. Any suggestions on how to go about terminating or declining the contract that I have sent over. I have not signed it yet. I am thinking of typing a letter and emailing it to the doctor (owner) and office manager, but am not sure if I should get into specifics or just keep it simple. Any advise is much appreciated.

Just send an email declining to take the account.
No explanation is necessary.
This scenario is not unusual.
