For 2017, is there cpt codes that can be billed by Medical Psychologists and LPC's for psychotherapy done by telephone?

I do not believe there are any codes yet for telephone. I was told previously to use the unlisted code 90899. As far as I know it is not a covered service. I know that telemedicine is starting to be considered, but not telephone.

Is there anyone that is doing the telemedicine? How well does it work for your office? How does it affect work flow?

I haven't billed any yet, but I'm curious as well. I think we are headed this direction.

I have not billed it, but from a recent seminar I recently learned:
Skype is not HIPAA compliant ( provider would need the software company to sign a BAA and Skype does not)
Use the GT modifier to signify telehealth services
the service takes place in the state where the patient is located. And the provider must be licensed in that state. So, if a NY provider has a patient that moved to FL, and wants to continue seeing them and the NY provider is not licensed in FL, they cannot bill telehealth svcs in that case.

I have been successfully billing for psychotherapy via telemedicine for over 6 months now.
We have 2 practice locations, the most recent one in VA, and so the patients at our GA practice are seen via telemedicine. The therapist (Ph.D) is licensed in both states
We use an internet based video system called doxy, it has both a free and paid service, and we use the free one. The patients have to come to our GA office (as they normally would for a face to face visit), this is not something that patients can access from home, unless they are self pay.
When billing for telemedicine you cannot simply just add the GT modifier, you have to add an additional line with CPT code Q3014 (Telehealth originating site facility fee), if you do not add this, the claim will deny.
If anyone has any specific questions about telemedicine please message me directly. I am happy to offer any advice that I can.

if the patient is accessing the service from his/her home, the Q3014 code and corresponding fee would not apply. from the above link:
"BILLING AND PAYMENT FOR THE
ORIGINATING SITE FACILITY FEE
Originating sites are paid an originating site
facility fee for telehealth services as described
by HCPCS code Q3014. Bill the MAC for
the originating site facility fee, which is a
separately billable Part B payment."
POS is "2" "telehealth"

I was specifically referring to billing claims to insurance companies when I stated the inclusion of Q3014.
This POS code "02" does not apply to originating sites billing the facility fee. Originating sites are not furnishing a service via telehealth since the patient is physically present in the facility. Accordingly, the originating site should continue to use the POS code that applies to the type of facility where the patient is located.
