can I bill Medicare if the patient is deceased?

sounds like fraud, sure, but what if the services were provided while the patient was alive. would this be a trigger for an audit, should I even bother if this patient was never billed and has since passed away?

Nope, not fraud.. you wont' cross line until you go to balance bill.

we deal with that all the time in DME- custom rehab with client with ALS. by the time we deliver the equipment, and get ready to bill, client is deceased
