I guess it depends on what it is and what your willing to pay for, I can't say it's not right, just know what you are getting for your money.

I also would be careful, are they local?  What info do they say they will provide?  Have they been doing consultations for a while?  Do they offer any other helpful services.  Just trying to figure out their motive for doing the consults.  Is it to make money, or do they truly have a desire to help others?  It's ok if they are out to make money as long as they are helpful.  Experience that can be shared is priceless.  But we got it stuck to us by a local service when we started.  Some can be very cut throat.  Not sure why.  There are plenty of providers out there and if you do a good job you got nothing to worry about.

Being cautious is good.  Maybe she could give you a reference you could talk with?

I have offered consulting services/training to several new billing services.  There are plenty of providers for all of us.

I agree with Michele that a reference is a good idea.

Getting references is always good. I use a good business friend of mines who also trained me for AAPC coding, she's accredited here in NYC and I actually consult with her when I have a client where we've never done their type of billing for. I pay a consulting fee to her because I know she's legit. I know I can trust the information she's given me.

She doesn't do any billing anymore she only consults. I always thought that was helpful ;)
Don't worry. Be happy.
