Medicare Secondary payment
« on: June 27, 2013, 11:02:11 AM »
I have a scenario where a patient having Regence Blue Shield primary and Medicare secondary. I have given the details of a sample claim below. Kindly help.

Billed to Regence - $100.00
Allowed by Regence - $80.00
Paid by Regence - $0.00
Applied to deductible - $80.00

Billed to Secondary medicare - $80.00
Allowed by Medicare - $70.00
Paid by Medicare - $60.00
Co-insurance applied - $10.00

My question here is, can we bill the member for the $10.00 co-insurance or will it be a write off, as medicare's allowed amount is lesser than that of Regence. Please advise.

Regards

Bill the patient.   We have had this on the forum many times.   Even if you are par. with both insurances.
