: Review of Heart Catheterization

I have a Cardiologist in our practice that reviewed Cardiac Catheter films for a patient.  I have searched high and low for a code that would cover him taking the time to review the films, and I can't find anything that covers this.  Any help would be appreciated.

Just curious, are you the coder?  Or the biller?  I'm not a coder so all of the providers I bill for provide the codes, but I have a lot of experience with coding.  Again, I don't mean to repeat myself, but I'm just trying to help you out, I'm not a coder, but I would think that the provider would consider charging the patient for a medical visit to cover reviewing the films.  Was the patient present?  Was the patient in the hospital or in the office?  Maybe an E&M code?

Hi Michelle, I am a biller.   The patient was not present in the office, the films were sent to the physician for his review.  He just wanted to know if he could be reimbursed for it or not.  Not a big deal, just the way reimbursements run now days you like to get paid for your work!  Every dollar counts!     :)  We will probably just let it go, would rather lose a couple dollars that risk a red flag to a payor.

Thanks for your help,
Kim

I'm not aware of a code, and I did a little research but didn't come up with one.  Seems like there should be one though.  Like you said, the Dr did the work, should get paid!
