« on: June 20, 2013, 12:23:13 PM »
Does anyone use Allscripts Myway?  We currently use Allscripts and have the server in our office.  The hardware fees are
pretty expensive, I was wondering what fees are charges with Myway.

thanks

Allscripts Myway was withdrawn from the market at the end of 2012.  It never worked the way it was supposed to, and Allscripts finally threw in the towel on further development on the software (after doctors spent about $40,000 on the program; why, what a surprise re. the price - that is about the amount of money the government promised doctors if they would buy an EHR).

I recommend that everyone carefully read through the article(s) at the link(s) below.  This is the face of what is coming after the government's promise of free money to physicians for buying EHRs distorted the marketplace.  I think we are headed for a period of consolidation, and I don't think anyone can know now what the marketplace will look like when the dust settles.  I do think that a number of physicians (maybe many) will end up replacing the EHRs that free government money encouraged them to buy, because they were sold something that was not worth anywhere near what they were charged.  (Basic economics lesson:  governments usually distort the market place when they provide money to consumers.  Prices usually rise to absorb the money that government provides to consumers.  This is an economics / human nature issue, not a Democrat or Republican issue.)

You can google on "Allscripts Myway" and get a web page at Allscripts that describes their upgrade path for those who want to replace Myway.

EDIT:  Click on the link below, then click on the link at the top of the page that comes up.  I originally posted the direct link to the article but that only gave a log-in page.

Well, you can't advance to the second page at the article you get to through the above link, but the comments at the end of the link above are worth the read so I'm leaving the link.  Here is a more user-friendly article:

And this, particularly the comments at the end:

Thank you for the information on Allscripts Myway.  I guess we will stay with Allscripts PM system we have had for many
years.  The software/hardware maintenance is expensive and we are a small company so I was just checking around for
a more inexpensive way to run our business.   Thanks again.
