NPI level 2?
« on: October 11, 2012, 06:13:46 PM »
I have a client that is starting a drug treatment facility. It will be
made up of multiple providers and they will be using different
facility's to treat the patients. Everything will be billed under the
drug treatment program. What level NPI number would they need to apply
for? Level 1 or 2? They each have their own individual NPI numbers and
the locations that they currently operate have their own NPI numbers as
well.  The "facility" won't have a general location.

Will they have to apply for several NPI's for the different locations?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, I am drawing a blank at the
moment (in need of coffee).  I am thinking the level is "2".

HI Queen,

Based on how I am understanding your query, you have a client who is starting a group with multiple providers billing under one tax id. If this is so, yes, the group will need to be set up under a group NPI (Type 2). Hope this helps.
