My client is in a group practice and also has a private practice. I will be billing for her private practice. She sees Medicare patients in her group practice and wants to see them in her private practice as well. She has a Medicare ID number in the group practice. Can I use this same number in the private practice or does she have to get another one?

You can use the same one, HOWEVER, she must be set up with Medicare to see patient's under her private practice as well as the group she is with. So, if she is not already set up she needs to do a Medicare application to let them know she will be seeing patients privately as well, and how she will report that income (under her SS# or under a different EIN).
