I'm trying to locate information regarding patient notification when we bill part b inpatient charges. Our case management director just informed me per a teleconference that we must issue a notice in writing when we change the patient's status from inpatient to observation as well as when we bill part b inpatient charges.
The only information I found is in the 2014 final rule that states CMS doesn't intend for providers to issue notices to patient because they will provide education themselves.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
