Medicare Credentialing/ Add on provider
« on: February 21, 2012, 01:53:33 PM »
Hi group,

I have a radiology tech that was Medicare credentialed in the past but it has been dormant for a few years requiring a new application but this tech is now working under a physician who has requested to add them on to his Medicare number or vice versa as an admin as she works for him.  Do we recredential the tech and include the doctor or do we submit an app under the doctor to add the tech as an admin?  A bit confusing.

Is the tech working for a radiologist office?  Or for a physician that does xrays in house?  I'm not sure what you mean when you say "add the tech as an admin".  Is the doctor credentialed as an IDTF?

The tech owns the radiology office and works in partnership with the doctor.  The tech has their own facility and also goes to multiple clinics to scan onsite for other doctors (mobile).  Yes the doctor is credentialed as an IDTF.

Then I believe you want to do an 855B and check "changing information" and then under Attachment 2 (in section 1B) check Personnel (Technicians) Who Perform Tests.  Then complete the appropriate sections.

Michele I have a follow up question for you.  I've gone through the application but since I am not a designated official for the providers office of where my client is being added on I either need to turn this over to them to handle or become a designated official which I am fine with but this provider is completely set up in PECOS.  Is this a change that can be updated/completed/submitted through there?

They would have to add you by getting you a separate PECOS login.  They cannot give you their PECOS login.  They will have to add you, sign papers, send them in, then you be will given a login.  Or you can do a paper app and mail it in.  There is nothing saying that even though they have a PECOS you must submit the new form that way.  (At least there hasn't been anything that says that yet!)
