Guys, Please help me here, I have been billing for for the past 12yrs for Pediatrician, Home Health Care Agencies, IPT, General MDs' and I am just starting my own medical billing business from my home. Mainly so I can stay home with my 6month old twins. I am already billing from home for one Home Health care agency and another go their office. Now the one i go the office now asked me if I have my CAQH credentials or accredited by any certified company? I told them that medical billers do not have to get credentials from CMS, CAQH, etc, Please help me here if breastfeeding twins is sucking some important info from my brain.

So what kind of credentials do medical billing businesses need apart from their certificates?

Thanks a million people, you never fail to rescue people like me.

I do think that breastfeeding twins would suck some brain mass out, but you are correct here.  Billers do not need, and cannot get a CAQH application.  Some states have laws on billers needing to be registered (like NJ - sorry medauthor! :( )  and I'm sure there are others, but CAQH is for providers that render medical services to patients.  Home Health Care Agencies wouldn't even use them either.  They are for persons only, not agencies or groups.

P.S.  When do you actually have time to work?

LOL Michelle, Thanks a lot, I thought I was missing something here for a minute. I have a lot of time thanks to the help of my mother-in-law, who wants me to succeed.

Thanks for clearing my headon that issue.
