Billing Process Simplification
« on: March 06, 2013, 02:20:25 AM »
Hello,

I have just started my billing company. Currently I have one client.

The provider has given me remote desk top access to work from home. However working from home is little challenging. I need to go to office to scan all the Superbills, EOBs, sending secondary insurances etc. The provider doesn't want me to take the checks home so I need to finish posting in her office.

I need advise on simplifying the process so that I can work from my home office.

Is there an easier way to scan EOBs? I am having difficulty in scanning EOBs.

How do billing comapanies typically operate?

Thank you for your suggestions.

Binta, is this a "client" or an "employer" there is a difference. You want advice to simplify the process ..that would really first depend on what your contractual relationship is with the client. Do you have a contract? That's the first thing I would need to know before I or anyone else really can give you advice. I have various clients to which I have remote access or access to their database and I do not have to visit the office at all. BUT much of our dealings are contractual, meaning we have a contract in place which states both MY responsibilities as well as the providers.   I do NOT receive checks/payments, not my job and I don't have or want a surety bond. Client is happier dealing with their own money. What I do get however is a copy of the deposit slip for each day which makes my life so much simpler. :)

Hello,

Thank you for your response. Actually I work as a biller for the office. The doctor is not ready to give the billing to a billing company yet. She wants me to work for few months and then decide.

However she is ok let me work remotely. In order for me to work remotely I need the Superbills and EOBs and copies of checks for posting.

Currently I go to office twice a week and scan all the superbills. But scanning EOBs/Check is little tedious given its size etc. I am trying to find out what is the best way to bring work home.

thank you,
Binta

You first do not want to remove any source documents from the practice, copies are fine. I would just create a schedule for them to fax you what you need, either daily, or weekly whatever works for you. My busier offices do their faxing either first thing in the morning or before they leave for the evening, daily. For the less busier offices we do once a week or twice a week. I have one office that will copy and I will pick up from them weekly because I consult with their staff on occasions and we work together on any appeals or problems, plus the office is very local :)
