What pt info needs to be blacked out on at EOB to be HIPPA compliaint when more than one pt is on a EOB?

I am assuming that you are referring to attaching the EOB for 2ndry billing.  In that case, you need to black out any information that does not pertain to the patient you are billing for, i.e. other patient's ID numbers, codes etc.

Usually blacking out the name & ID# is sufficient.  Without that the patient cannot be identified.  We actually use cardboard strips to black out the entire section on the other patients and that works well.

I always blacked out the name & ID#, but someone told me blacking out only the name is sufficient.

As long as the patient cannot be identified, that is what the issue is.  We do the whole section because it is easier, using the cardboard pieces and photocopying.  Easier than trying to black out info, for us anyway.  It is so hard to black it out enough so it can't be read!   >:(
