E&M and Physical therapy on first visit ok????
« on: April 16, 2010, 03:34:17 PM »
Our physician saw a new patient for back pain and decided to do PT on first visit.  Can I bill 99204 with 97110, 97014, 97250, 97128 on first visit?  If not, any suggestions to replace 99204? Thanks.

If that is what the provider did, then that is what you should bill.  You may want to ask the provider if the 25 modifier would be appropriate on the 99204.  That would indicate that they exam was a separately identifiable E&M service on the same visit as the PT.

Thx for the reply.  I asked in case there were PT guidelines that did not allow e&m and pt on same visit.
