: Billing office visit while patient is admitted in a rehab
: kbolt February 11, 2009, 07:29:02 PM
Our client has a patient that was in the hospital for a fractured leg and then transfered to a rehab center to continue treatment., During the time he was admitted at the rehab center, the doctor had the patient personally come into the office to be seen instead of the doctor going to the patient. The doctor wants to charge an office visit. Are we still able to bill this as an office visit? Also, the next day the doctor seen the patient at the rehab center. The patient has not been discharged either.

ANY input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Kim

If the patient came into the office, the dr can charge for an office visit.  If the dr then went to the rehab center the next day, he can charge for a visit there as well using the rehab center for the place of service.  (All of this assuming there was no surgery and this is not in the post op period.)
