: workers compensation

I hope someone can help.   I am in Louisiana.   My state has not updated cpt codes since 2001 for workers compensation.   As of July 2013, they updated codes specifically from 1995-2012.   I have been receiving denials from workers compensation carriers from my state as well as carriers from other states with the reason of the codes are no longer valid.  All these carriers are under the "assumption" that the release of the new fee schedule is for 2013.   I have been on the phone for days and hours with these carriers trying to get them to see their "assumptions".   No one can give me (or wont) specifics on these new codes.  I do have a copy of the released codes that clearly show the old codes still active.   Any ideas?

They are not required to follow NEWER coding procedures.. in fact many of your no fault/workers' comp are behind on coding. Best to see what your being denied for and take it from there with the older codes in mind.

I am being denied stating that procedure is no longer valid.  When I called each carrier, I was told that LA has updated to the 2013 cpt codes and I must use them.   LA only updated to 2012.
