72295-can you bill this per level?

Hi!
I have heard many answers to this question, however it seems to be 50% yes,50% no. When discography is performed on more than one level and is billed as 62290 (discogram code) 4 units is it appropriate to bill 72295 (radiological supervision and interpretation) with 4 units as well? Furthermore, is it reimbursable? I have been told it is not a per level code therefore, you cannot bill with more than one unit but have also been told you can bill it per level. I was told there is an article in the 2003 CPT Assistant, however I do not have access to this and have been unable to find it anywhere without having to purchase it, which I do not want to do for one article. I am billing Illinois Workers compensation and need to know whether or not this code will be paid at more than one level. Any imput or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Amazing how many different interpretations there can be out there isn't it? Well, I had to do a little research to find an answer, since I'm not currently billing out those codes. I also found about a 50% split as well. I was hoping to be able to clear it up for you, but no matter how deep I dug, it just got more complicated. I would suggest you bill it out with the units since there is no clear cut answer. The only other thing you could do is to call your state workers comp board and ask if they have a policy on the 72295.
Sorry I couldn't clear it up. When I started my research I was determined the answer was going to be no units!
