Medicare states that they will only pay for one dexa scan (77080) every two years. However, it also says that they will pay for a dexa within the two year period if it is being done to determine the efficacy of medication.
I submitted a charge for a dexa within a two year period because our patient was being measured for medication efficacy. The claim was denied. Does any body know how to submitt a charge within the two year period so that it gets paid?
Codes used: 77080 with 733.90
