New private practice LCSW
« on: July 03, 2013, 10:01:41 PM »
I am an LCSW that has recently opened a private practice.  I have been using Availity to submit my claims.  I am concerned as I have billed at least 4 clients over a month ago and have not received any payments.  Am I being over zealous or should I be concerned.  All the claims that have been submitted were to BC/BS of IL.  I placed a called to bc/bs today and was on hold forever(July4th weekend).
And is there another billing software that is free that would be better to use?
Thanks Pat

Did you receive submission reports from Availity? If so take a look at them first, then I would call them. It's much easier to deal with some issues on the clearinghouse end first. Make sure you didn't have any rejections. A month for BCBS is kind of long.
