I have been doing billing for over 15 years now. Over the last 7-8 years, I went from having normal hearing to having profound hearing loss. The last two years have been the most tolling as I was no longer able to hear on the phone. In August I had bilateral cochlear implant surgery and I can already hear better than I have in years and it will get even better with practice.
So...I am ready to get back into billing and using that phone again. Over the last two years I really didn't stay caught up with all the laws and regulations while I was coping with this life changing experience (just enough to keep up with the psychiatrist I bill for). I was hoping you could help me out by listing things I need to read up on or any upcoming laws and regulations that go in effect soon.
Thanks!

That would certainly be a duanting task to list them all but here are my top 3 and each of them would come with a list of sub topics. <g>
1) HIPAA (specifically newly regulated HITECH)
2) The ACA and how it will impact physicians / patients (it will in big way)
3) False claims act, Fraud/Abuse and fee splitting laws, along with other and any other state laws

8)Physician prefers to outsource their coding process to billing company. Hence billing process is very complicated. Professionals only can able to provide accurate bill for services provided.
