: Modifier for Hopsice?
: chris February 18, 2010, 01:12:27 AM
We recently had a claim rejected because the patient was hospice.  When we filed the claim, we didn't know the patient was hospice.  The provider says the old biller would resubmit with a modifier - but they didn't know which modifier - and the claim would be paid.  What modifier could they be talking about??

If the services provided were unrelated to the Hospice care/condition you can use modifier GW.  There are two modifiers for hospice:

GV for attending physician not hospice

GW- service unrelated to terminal condition
