I'm working on my last section for certification in PennFoster's Medical Billing and Coding certification but am running into a snag with the MediSoft program.  I am working through Chapter 7 currently of the CiMO textbook.  Exercise 7-1 on page 222 walks me through Creating A Claim.  I keep changing the System Date to Nov. 4, 2016 as instructed.. and then I open up the Claim management window and follow the steps as indicated.. but no matter how many times I try it.. upon reviewing those claims, they indicate that they had been created on whatever today's actual date is.  I do not understand how to fix this!  I need help, please.. and soon as possible.  It's driving me mad, and I really want to get this done within another week! Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have contacted Educational Services as well.. but maybe you will be of more help, or respond in a more timely matter than they will.

Thank you,

Please, I would prefer responses to be e-mailed to me.. as I always check that first.

I am not familiar with PennFoster's Medical BIlling and Coding Certification.  I would think you would need to contact them directly.

Tried both of those suggestions several times, thank you anyhow. I appreciate the suggestions. Hopefully I get this worked out.

By "System Date", do you mean Date of Service or the internal date (today's current date) that's "hardcoded" in the billing software? Most practice management systems I've worked on don't allow changes to be made to internal hardcoded data due to audit/data integrity reasons. If it's a future date of service for billing purposes, many systems prevent this (unless there's a case-management type module that allows future dates for treatment plans) to eliminate possible data entry errors.

Can I just interject on something.. and I hope you don't mind. It's a little ironic for me to hear Penn Foster right now..   a few months ago, I was looking at some online courses for my youngest daughter for extra college credits she wants before graduation.. when I was looking through their course catalog I happened to see their medical billing course.. it wasn't expensive and curiosity got the best of me, and I am always looking for other avenue's to pursue for my members.   I'm not DISSING the course but I am going to tell you it's only about a level one on a scale of one to five.  You are going to need more than that course if you are brand new and never have billed before.  I just wanted to throw that out there.
