QW Modifier
« on: December 10, 2008, 04:47:06 PM »
Is the QW modifier really necessary..meaning if not used do I risk my claims getting denied? What exactly is this modifier telling Medicare? Thank you in advance.

The QW modifier indicates that the service is a CLIA waived lab.  If you have a CLIA waiver and you are billing for services that do not require a CLIA certificate then you can bill but you do need the QW modifier on the claim.
