: Urgent Care Billing
: Jen99 January 07, 2009, 02:47:32 AM
I have been doing primary care billing for 8 years.  I had interest from an Urgent Care office and I need some information so I can get back to them.

1.  What are the common codes that are used?
2.  Do they charge an additional CPT code just to be seen there?
3.  Any other tips in Urgent Care billing that would land me this client.

Thank you,

Jennifer

Urgent care billing is very similar to family practice or internal medicine billing.  (Of course without the routine physical codes.)  The difference is the patients don't have appointments, they just walk in.  There shouldn't be any special codes.  The after hours code or weekend codes don't apply since that is during regular hours for the urgent care.  They will mostly use the E&M codes for the visits, with some possible strep tests, urinalysis, ekg possibly, etc.
