Ok I was just curious is it easier marketing to smaller practices with maybe 1-4 employees versuses a larger practice with over 5 or more employees I would think a smaller office would be more receptive with outsourceing there billing more than a bigger office would like to hear other opions.

Personal opinion only!...............We hired a billing service when we were brand new because we had NO IDEA how to bill.  So appeal to new businesses with your expertise in the most important arena......income for their business!

Then we went to in house (me) once I learned how to do it.

Bigger offices need a biller because it's a big job......so appeal to them with the fact that you're contracted and they don't pay employee taxes, worker's comp insurance, or benefits for you.  It will save them money, and you will make them money faster by making that your #1 priority!

I think both large and small outsource, but it's more a matter of what you are good at selling yourself for.  In the beginning for me, the larger practices were intimidating.  The smaller practices seemed more manageable.  But others like to jump right in, so it's a preference.  Smaller practices sometimes are easier sells because they don't have to maintain all the equipment/software as a larger practice, but with EMR that will change!

Thanks for the advice so Michele with the EMR about to be in place in 2012 will it be harder for physicans to outsource there billing and as a billing service are we required to have EMR in place

Billing services do not need EMR.  I personally don't think that EMR will make it harder for providers to outsource.  Many providers have the capability to bill now, but that doesn't make them good at it.  Many providers lose up to 35% of their accounts receivables to not following up on unpaid claims and not handling denials.  That will not change with EMR.   :)

I say why limit yourself, market to all of them, keep track of your marketing efforts, note what works, change what doesn't. Don't put a limit on marketing because you'll decrease your response rate.
