Hello ChristineS,

Just about every payer are accepting claims electronically.  This is a preference for them as well.  If you have a clearinghouse in mind already, ask them for the payer listing and/or go to their website.  You can retrieve this informtion from there.

I hope this helps and good luck,

Thank you, do they charge for enrollment? I know that is probably a dumb question.. I have never set up the enrollment, and I have a client that wants to do electronic billing for all carriers who will accept them, so I am trying to get that in order..

Best bet is to go through a clearinghouse, one centralized location/software and you avoid all the data entry of going through the payors directly, plus any carrier who isn't taking electronic claims the clearinghouse will drop to paper.

Hello ChristineS,

Most do charge a fee.  Look at availity.  To submit claims through them is absolutely free.

Good Luck,

check if it charges you for dropping them to paper.....office ally/practicemate is a free software program that will charge you for paper(unless you opt out) and there is a fee if you have over 50% Medicare claims also. no charge to submit, but some of the payors they are contracted with is limited also.
