Out of Network
« on: March 28, 2011, 07:34:42 PM »
Hi Everyone,

If a claim is processed and the provider is out of network and the insurance company sends the payment to the patient. Are we to bill the patient for the amounts charged?

Thanks,
Bsmedbilling

Michele,

One more question. Do we bill the total provider charges?

Thanks,

yes, unless the patient gives you a copy of the eob and the eob says differently.  out of network says you do not have an agreement with that insurance company to go by a contracted fee.
