: Fake Physician???
: asilva03 January 10, 2012, 04:32:09 PM
So I received a request from a provider that wanted to know my rates.  The provider stated that he is a family practice that submits about $45,000 a month in claims. Well, the issue I was having was that I could not locate the doctor online through any search engine or in the NPPES to see if he was legit or not.  The provider has not provided the name of his practice and the only way I can communicate with him is through email which is a gmail account.  This is very interesting and I wanted to get some feedback from the forum.

Thanks.

It wouldn't shock me at all if it was another billing company shopping your rates. I always require the physicians name/address and if he's not willing to provide it and you can't find them online, then I'd say it was a bogus lead. Those really bug me because If someone is up front and honest I will be glad to help them and answer questions, don't screw me around on a false lead, I just don't have time for that.  >:(

I agree Linda. It becomes ridiculous and a waste of time. >:(

I agree with Linda, could be another billing company.  I don't give out my rates over the phone. I ask them if they would like to meet and discuss things in a meeting.  If they are serious they will say yes. If it's someone fooling around or trying to get over they will quickly say no.
