G- Codes and Medicaid
« on: May 08, 2012, 05:05:52 PM »
Can you bill for different G codes to Medicaid for Home Health skilled nursing or is that only for Medicare? We are a small home health agency that deals primarily with IN Medicaid and I am trying to figure out how to get reimbursed for medical supplies that we send to the clients home with the nurses.  I also am trying to see if I can bill for our RN that is doing all the assessments, POC, etc.  Any help or direction is greatly appreciated.  The RN is my wife and I am the self taught billing/coder.  We specifically treat only children, and try to keep everything in house to cut overhead costs.

It will depend on IN Medicaid rules and I'm not specifically familiar with them.  Do they provide you with a billing manual when you enroll?  They should at the least have a billing manual available on their website.  That should help with all of the questions that you have.

Good luck!

Thanks for replying, I really do appreciate any guidance. They do provide a manual about a foot thick.  I have read through it and there is very little reference to Home Health agencies but do not which HCPS codes are actually billable if any, with a PA code of 99600.  I also am trying to figure out how to get reimbursed for supplies sent out, any generic format would help.  Thanks agin

That's the problem, there really are no generic guidelines when dealing with Medicaid. You have to go to them to get what you need. If it's not in your billing manual or on their website call them, if they tell you, always get a reference and document the call.
