Compression Stockings
« on: February 24, 2011, 02:43:40 PM »
I received an EOB from (my) Blue Cross with "wound bandage/dressing" as the descriptive when the DME was "compression stockings thigh high".  Should I call Blue Cross or the provider to make sure it was coded correctly.  I have to pay for them (deductible), but I want it coded correctly.  That's a big difference in products!

I would definitely call.  My husband has to wear these, and when filed to his bc plan, it goes to his deductible as well.   THEY ARE EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!  and knowing he will have to wear them forever,,,,,we should buy stock....

FYI, I called Blue cross.  The office had coded the stocking correctly, but Blue Cross' system spit out "wound/burn dressing" as the description rather than "gradient compression stocking, thigh high".  Wow, how's that for specificity!
