primary billed with old ID, secondary new ID
« on: April 04, 2008, 09:51:21 PM »
I billed BCBS using my prividers individual tax ID, and we've already received the EOB from BC.  BCBS is the primary ins.   However, in the mean time, two of my providers are forming a "group" and they now have new NPI #'s and tax ID #'s.  Also, they've applied for a Medicaid provider ID using the group numbers.  Does it matter if I file the Medicaid secondary using the new Medicaid group ID, when the BCBS claim was under the old tax ID and NPI?  Hope this makes sense.  thank you, Ryanne

Hi,
Yes I understand what you are asking.  It is ok to bill Medicaid using the new tax ID info & NPI's even though BC processed it with the old info.  We have found ourselves in a similar situation in the past.  One of our groups had done a tax ID change but the office manager did the paperwork for each insurance company at different times, so they all had different effective dates for the new info.  It was a nightmare billing wise.  I would try to get everything switched to the new info as soon as you possible can!

Good luck
