Medicare/Medicaid different Labor Codes
« on: June 25, 2009, 06:43:57 PM »
Ok, I am going to take a shot in the dark and hope someone can assist me before I get on the phone with NC Medicaid. Effective 04/01/09 Medicare has changed the code to bill for labor from e1340 to k0739. Well NC Medicaid does not recognize that code, so now I am having the crossover claims deny for the labor charges. I think we need to add the code on the CMN when we get PA from Medicaid, but not certain. I want to resolve the issue before I get overloaded with claims. I am sending the ones that I just received back to EDS for review with the attached documentation. Any assistance is appreciated.

I am not currently doing anything with NC Medicaid, but I know with NY Medicaid there are codes that Medicare uses that MCaid doesn't.  We have to manually submit them.  I'm not aware of a way to get them to add the code.  If that works, let me know!

since they don't recognize labor or pay we have to use a w-code on the cmp and do w/k0739 so they know it ahead of time. (DME)
