: on-line medical evaluation for NP - cpt 98969

I was just wondering if anyone was using this CPT code of 98969 and getting reimbursed for it.  If so, what documentation requirements are you using?  I know if the on-line evaluation is within 7 days of an assessment/evaluation it is included in assessment/evaluation service.  I have a NP who is starting up a preventative screening input website.  Based on dates of services the patient lists or does not list or some medical conditions you may have, the program will give you information on what to discuss with your physician at your next visit.  It is the intent of the NP to review the information and make comments or recommendations.  Any help would be most beneficial!!

I have not billed that code in particular but I have billed other telephone consultation codes and I've never seen any get reimbursed.

Thanks so much!!  I researched this and came up with the same answer that is probably was not a reimburseable code.  I wanted other people's opinion.

Unfortunately you have to verify with all carriers. I do mental health and have not seen one paid either.

It will be interesting to see how this goes.  The VA is currently using skype to do patient visits with patients in very rural areas.  It's "face to face" via the internet, but not in the same room.  As our technology changes, and it gets tougher to get in to our doctors, I wonder if insurance companies will relent and start paying for a "tech" appointment?  Boy the unintentional malpractice would be awful.

Personally.... When the day comes I have to "skype" with my doctor, then it's time for a new doctor. As a consumer I am becoming more and more acutely aware of the breaches that exist and NOT even through the fault of our providers either. For example, I already looked into "opting" out of electronic health records. Did you know patients will be able to "opt out". I'm doing it. There is NO way the govt is going to control my medical records.  If you have to Skype with patient's there's a problem! Even telephone consults are crazy IMHO, unless there is an absolute urgent need for it and it cannot be done in the office for something in particular.  Even my own doctor has said that when he has to compete with a computer, he's retiring. I don't blame him. I don't for one second trust much of this technology, call me a pessimist I guess. I do know that I've already had 2 near MAJOR malfunctions with my medical records..2 instances with my daughter and one with mine.

Ok, totally different subject rant.. LOL
