Can unpaid balances be turned over to a collection agency? Or does this plan type prohibit bad debt collection action?

Michele:
If this is a Medicaid product then you need to check with your state laws to see if it's ok to bill a patient.  It will also depend on what the balance is from.  If the plan says it is patient responsibility, or if the patient was not eligible it should be ok, but you need to check the state laws to be sure.
